Rock U Bands to Perform at July 8 Race Legal Event at San Diego Qualcomm Stadium
Several of Rock U’s student based bands will be performing at an upcoming Race Legal event at San Diego’s Qualcomm (Jack Murphy) Stadium Parking Lot – Friday, July 8th, 2011.
What is Race Legal?
“The RaceLegal.com program was formed in 1998 by Dr. Stephen J. Bender, Professor Emeritus of Epidemiology/Biostatistics in San Diego State University’s Graduate School of Public Health. Via a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, a comprehensive grass root community based coalition entitled “Closing the Loop” was initiated. This coalition involved city/county government, local law enforcement , Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR), Superior Court, City Attorney, District Attorney, county probation as well as the safer and sanctioned RaceLegal.com track alternative to illegal street racing.” http://racelegal.com/
“RaceLegal and Racing 4 HOPE programs empower youth with a focus on keeping our streets and communities safe. I encourage San Diego to learn more about these programs and how you can collaborate to help create change and save lives. The value of learning teamwork, healthy choices and taking responsibility for one owns actions are lessons that will last a lifetime,” said San Diego Police Chief William Lansdowne.
The July 8th Race Legal event will feature a concert stage with local artists to perform just a short distance from the racing area and Rock U’s student bands have a significant block of time to allow our students to showcase their music at a very popular local event… what a great summer activity for everyone to come be a part of.
Come out and enjoy the races while helping to support our local Rock u musicians.
We will keep you posted as more details come in.
Thanks from the Rock Staff
